Presentation of the interactive workshop: simulation exercise on a fictionalised case study

• Participants are given information about a hypothetical country’s governance of the private health sector.

• They will engage in a group-based activity to use the Progression Pathway framework to organize the information on governance, according to the six governance behaviour.  

• Each group will use the information provided to score the country’s situation and determine what are the key weaknesses that would need to be tackled to move to the next level of progress; what would their recommendations be to take this forward, and why.  

• Groups are encouraged to reflect on what evidence exists as well as what evidence would need to be available to inform identification of priorities, design and implement policies to address them.

• Three key discussion questions can be posed to the discussants and audience:  

1. What research methods are most suited for evaluating PP implementation and development of governance mechanisms and capacities in different countries?  

2. What improvements or adaptations would you suggest based on your experience?

3. How do we take the PP framework forward across diverse settings?
