Working Groups

 

The Working Groups combines the expertise of actors at country, regional and global level with the aim to generate best practices and guidance to support better governance of the private sector in health. The work produced by the working groups will help countries govern the health system as a whole to maximize their emergency response and build a more equitable and resilient health systems.


Please note: the Working Groups are currently in the process of being launched. The text below provides an overview of the starting point of those Working Groups. More details would be made available as they grow and evolve.

 

COVID19

Description: The COVID-19 Working Group provides an inclusive and coordinated structure for learning and evidence generation on the engagement with the private sector in the COVID-19 response through the deployment of the key tools (diagnostics, vaccines, therapeutics, PPE, and oxygen).

Goal: To support governments and Ministries of Health to harness private sector capacity in the COVID-19 response by developing and sharing country-level best practice guidance on the governance of the health system as a whole for an equitable and safe deployment of the COVID-19 tools.

Objectives

  • To develop tools and practical country-level guidance on leveraging the private sector to maximize national efforts in the deployment of the COVID-19 tools 
  • To support countries to solve problems and remove health system bottlenecks related to their efforts in working with the private sector and align the activities of the private with national response efforts and with the core principle of health for all. 
  • To bring global, regional, and local partners to work together, create common language, share learnings, and best practices in effectively leveraging the private sector to maximize countries’ COVID-19 response.
  • To build understanding on the health system governance bottlenecks and gaps in relation to the deployment of the COVID-19 tools.

 

DATA

Description: The Data Working focuses on building consensus around data that is critical to better govern the private sector in health and to encourage health ministries and development partners to invest in the systems and capacity to collect and use data for better governance of the health system as a whole.

Goal: To foster consensus on what private sector data is critical to better govern a health system, encouraging health ministries and development partners to invest in the systems and capacity to collect and use this data for better governance.

Objectives

  • To understand how private sector data can be used for better governance, both in theory and practice. 
  • To support the development of practical approaches to data, focusing on what private sector data is critical, for what use, as well as how to use it.

 

MNCH

Description: The MNCH Working Group focuses on engaging the private sector for delivering quality Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) services.

Goal: To support countries to engage the private sector in delivering quality maternal and newborn health services to accelerate progress to reach the Sustainable Development Goals for ending preventable maternal, newborn and child deaths.
